5 Major Signs Your Car Needs an Alignment
Modern vehicles are engineered to be precision machines that need little effort to control. That is unless there is some sort of problem. A car that has alignment issues causes safety concerns due to control issues. A vehicle may become misaligned due to a run in with a curb or bad bump, high mileage wear and tear, if it is involved in an accident or even if tires are not properly balanced. If you experience any of these signs that you need an alignment don't hesitate to bring your car to a local repair shop to have the problem resolved.
Bad alignment will cause a steering wheel to vibrate or rock left to right repeatedly. If it is really bad it may even cause the whole vehicle to shake as you drive down the road. This happens because at least two tires are pulling against each other, trying to bring your car in two different directions.
Off Center Steering Wheel
A common sign of an alignment problem is having to hold the steering wheel at a crooked angle in order to go straight. Even if it is the slightest bit off it could be a sign of a major control issue for your vehicle.
When you have alignment issues you will likely notice the vehicle trying to go left or right automatically. You should never have to yank the wheel or hold it to the side to keep your car driving straight down the road.
One of the first signs of an alignment issue is soft pulling. Unlike hard pulling you may not notice a harsh sense to go left or right, but the vehicle may tend to drift slightly to one side.
Uneven Tire Wear
On occasion, as part of regular auto maintenance, you should check the tread of your tires. If you notice that one tire on an axle is wearing in a different pattern than the other, you should stop by the auto shop to have the problem resolved.
